About us

Debt Advice Foundation is a registered national debt advice and education charity in England and Wales (no. 1148498) and based in Darwen, Blackburn

The charity operates a free, national telephone debt counselling service as well as a financial capability education programme for schoolchildren.

As the cost of living continues to rise, we are expecting demand for our debt advice service to increase, which is why we are seeking additional debt advisers to join our team.

Key skills and experience

Certificate in Money Advice Practice (CertMAP) or equivalent qualification (elapsed qualifications will be considered). Should you not have any of the equivalent (CertMAP) or equivalent, an option for gaining these certifications are available for the suitable candidate.

One year experience of debt advice work is required (telephone or in person)

Responsibilities

Deliver a professional, impartial, pragmatic and outcome focused telephone advice service to all clients whilst working to company best practice and quality standards.

Advice qualifications will be required for this role as you will provide callers with advice on the following areas: Income maximisation, budgeting, priority debts, unsecured debts, formal and informal debt solutions. Good communication skills and empathy if very important for this role due to the sensitive nature of calls.
