Role: Trainee Financial Planner

Salary: £29,000 – £30,000 Per Annum

Location: Sheffield

Hours: Full-time

The role:

Our client is looking for two ambitious, commercially minded individuals to join their established wealth management business in Sheffield as Trainee Financial Planners.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop a career in financial services, with a structured two-year training programme combining professional qualifications, practical experience and mentoring from experienced Financial Planners.

You will develop your own professional network, introduce prospective clients to the business and gain hands-on experience in financial planning. Following successful qualification, the intention is for you to progress into a self-employed Financial Planner role, managing and growing your own client portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build and develop professional relationships and identify potential clients.
  • Shadow experienced Financial Planners and attend client meetings.
  • Develop knowledge of investments, pensions, protection and wealth management.
  • Work towards recognised professional financial planning qualifications.
  • Support the development of client relationships and financial planning strategies.
  • Proactively build a network and future client portfolio.
  • Take ownership of your training and professional development.

The successful candidate:

  • Commercially minded, ambitious and self-motivated.
  • Previous experience in sales, account management, finance, banking, property or another commercially focused role would be advantageous.
  • Confident communicator with strong networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn complex information.
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable generating business opportunities.
  • Committed to professional study and long-term career development.
  • Previous financial planning experience is not essential.
  • R01 or R05 qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential.

Additional information:

The initial development programme is expected to take approximately two years. Candidates will be required to complete professional study and examinations in their own time, as dedicated study leave is not provided.

Following qualification, the role is intended to transition into a self-employed Financial Planner position, with responsibility for building and managing your own client portfolio.
