Full job description

About the role:
British Solar Renewables (BSR) is seeking an Investment Associate to support the growth and optimisation of its renewable energy portfolio across the UK.

This role sits at the centre of the investment function, supporting opportunities across solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind and emerging clean energy technologies. Working alongside senior stakeholders across the business, you will be involved in evaluating new investments, executing transactions, supporting project financing activities and driving portfolio value optimisation.

This is an opportunity to gain exposure across the full investment lifecycle, from development-stage opportunities through to operational assets, while working on projects that contribute to the UK's energy transition.

This role can be based from our Somerset or London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and enhance detailed financial models to support investment decisions, acquisitions, project financing and portfolio optimisation.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities across renewable energy technologies, assessing commercial viability, risks and returns.
  • Support acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures and strategic partnerships, including the preparation of offers and investment proposals.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes with technical, legal, commercial and financial advisers.
  • Prepare investment committee papers, board presentations and decision-making materials.
  • Support debt raising, project financing and refinancing processes.
  • Assist in negotiating commercial agreements including PPAs, route-to-market agreements, financing arrangements, EPC agreements and O&M contracts.
  • Analyse revenue strategies and market opportunities across power markets and renewable energy sectors.
  • Monitor market developments, regulation and competitor activity to support investment strategy.
  • Work closely with Development, EPC, Asset Management, Legal and Finance teams throughout a project's lifecycle.

About You
We're interested in candidates with experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, investment banking, corporate finance, project finance or investment management.
You'll have:

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience developing investment and project finance models.
  • An understanding of valuation methodologies, investment appraisal techniques and project economics.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to assess risks and translate analysis into recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including lenders, investors and advisers.
  • The ability to manage multiple workstreams whilst maintaining attention to detail.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline or qualified by experience.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACA or ACCA are advantageous.

Why Join BSR?
This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects and gain hands-on experience across investments, project finance and transaction execution.
As BSR continues to expand its position as a leading Independent Power Producer, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth of the portfolio while developing their own career within a growing investment team.
