SHEQ Compliance Officer

JG Pears is one of the UK's leading processors of animal by-products and food waste. Are you passionate about ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and quality excellence? JG Pears is looking for a dedicated SHEQ Compliance Officer to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining and improving our Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) management systems.

Location: Low Marnham, NG23 6SP

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8am-5pm (45 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality regulations and company policies.
  • Actively support the delivery of an effective SHEQ management system across the JG Pears Group, reporting findings to the Head of SHEQ.
  • Develop, maintain, and control SHEQ-related documents and procedures.
  • Monitor and test Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Operational Control procedures to uphold safety, environmental, and feed safety standards.
  • Support the SHE Advisor or Quality Coordinator in implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Provide, maintain, and update SHEQ procedures and processes for the Newark site or the wider Group, depending on job focus.
  • Conduct audits, data collection, and compliance reporting to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Work closely with Plant Managers to ensure SHEQ procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and optimise reporting and compliance processes.
  • Analyse SHEQ data and maintain accurate Registers and Logs.
  • Take and record fuel, product, and by-product samples for analysis.
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions for employees on SHEQ topics.
  • Liaise with local stakeholders and members of the public regarding environmental performance (if SHE-focused).
  • Conduct inspections across all plants to ensure adherence to SHEQ policies.
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and implement necessary actions.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.
  • Support risk assessments and development of SOPs in collaboration with the SHE Adviser.
  • Travel to other sites as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a SHEQ-related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and drive continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Relevant qualifications in SHEQ disciplines (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO Management Systems) are essential.

Due to the location of site, your own transport is essential.
