About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Group Financial Controller position with oversight of group controllership functions as well as partnering leaders of national functions. This is a senior role in the organisation and sits on the Finance Leadership Team to drive the business to achieve its strategic objectives.

The Group Financial Controller
will

  • Lead Group financial control, reporting, risk and governance, ensuring robust controls and complete confidence in financial performance.
  • Lead all statutory, tax and regulatory compliance activities, managing key relationships with HMRC, auditors, banks and advisors.
  • Own the group balance sheet, cash flow, liquidity, working capital and covenant management, driving strong financial discipline and performance.
  • Provide commercial leadership on key contracts, partnerships and loyalty programmes, ensuring maximum value creation.
  • Drive operational excellence across the Finance centre and Procurement, delivering efficient processes, strong controls and an outstanding service culture.
  • Champion finance transformation, leading systems, process improvements and continuous enhancement across the function.
  • Build and maintain a best-in-class risk and governance framework, protecting the business while enabling growth.
  • Develop, inspire and lead high-performing finance teams, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous development.


About you

  • Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 7+ years’ post-qualified experience in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, with deep knowledge of FRS 102, statutory reporting and financial controls in a complex, multi-entity environment.
  • Proven track record of leading external audits, managing auditor relationships and delivering high standards of governance, compliance and reporting.
  • An accomplished people leader with experience building, developing and motivating high-performing finance teams.
  • Commercially minded and solutions-focused, able to translate financial insight into clear actions that drive business performance.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, balancing strategic thinking with a hands-on approach when required.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to influence senior leaders, external partners and operational teams.
  • Experienced in working collaboratively across finance and operational functions to align financial plans with business activity and performance drivers.
