The role will also lead the implementation of upcoming UK GAAP changes including the impact of FRS102 (specifically lease accounting).

The Financial Controller is accountable for the core accounting process across the UK & Ireland business, ensuring management information is timely, accurate, and complete. Leading statutory reporting for all legal entities, the Financial Controller acts as the primary interface with the external auditors and other accountancy / tax advisors. You will also identify and implement improvements across the finance function and wider business processes.

This role is a senior role within the finance leadership team and working alongside the Business Controller, who leads all FP&A activities including monthly reporting and analysis, the budget/forecast process as well as targeted finance projects.

The Q-Park finance function is supported by an experienced management accounts team and a relatively flat structure. Continued growth has increased the need for stronger financial control leadership, creating the opportunity to further enhance capability.

The role has an initial focus on statutory reporting and tax compliance, with scope to broaden as the scale and complexity of the UK and Ireland operations evolve.

  • Act as an interface with the Group finance function alongside the Business Controller, particularly during month end and on ad hoc matters.

Statutory accounts / tax / VAT

  • Lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors, starting with the wider Group audit work and sign off, through to the completion of UK & Ireland local audits and statutory accounts completion.
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of statutory accounts across a multi-entity structure (16 in Ireland and 9 in the UK – albeit less than half are actively trading entities). Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
  • Oversee corporation tax processes, working in partnership with external advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Own the review and submission of the monthly VAT returns for the UK & IE

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 5+ years post-qualification experience within a finance role in a medium to large, multi-entity organisation.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience applying standards in complex areas such as lease accounting, acquisitions (including goodwill) and multi-site, multi-entity group structures.
