Junior Sous Chef

Location: Pentonbridge Inn
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week | 4-day working week (Wednesday–Saturday)
Salary: £35,000 per year (with paid overtime after 40 hours)

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie in a high-quality kitchen
  • Passion for fine dining and delivering exceptional food standards
  • Experience working in a Rosette or Michelin-level environment is desirable
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Commitment to food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join the award-winning kitchen team at the Michelin Starred, 3 AA Rosette Pentonbridge Inn.

Working closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in producing exceptional dishes, maintaining the highest culinary standards and supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious chef looking to develop their career in an exceptional fine dining environment while enjoying an excellent work-life balance with a four-day working week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce dishes to the highest standards
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
  • Assist with menu development and implementation
  • Ensure food is prepared, stored and presented in accordance with company standards
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with stock control
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food hygiene throughout the kitchen
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior chefs
  • Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Sous Chef's absence
  • Complete daily kitchen records and compliance documentation
  • Promote a positive, collaborative and professional working environment
  • Ensure all health, safety and food hygiene regulations are followed at all times
  • Take an active role in your own professional development

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a high-quality professional kitchen
  • Experience as a Junior Sous Chef or senior Chef de Partie preferred
  • Excellent culinary skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good understanding of food safety and HACCP procedures
