Building Safety Occupation Consultant
Location: Hybrid / Flexible Working - Liverpool
Salary: £40,000 – £65,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits

Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading national built environment consultancy to recruit experienced professionals into their growing Building Safety Occupation team. This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist business at the forefront of building safety regulation, supporting clients through some of the most significant legislative change in the sector.

The Role

You will work within a specialist consultancy team supporting Accountable Persons (APs) and Principal Accountable Persons (PAPs) in meeting their obligations under the Building Safety Act 2022. The role focuses on occupied higher-risk residential buildings and ensuring clients can demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.

This is a client-facing consultancy position involving technical review, compliance advisory work, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement across a wide range of residential portfolios.

Depending on level (Consultant, Senior or Principal), you will take on increasing responsibility for client leadership, technical oversight, and mentoring of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders

  • Lead and contribute to client meetings, workshops, and compliance reviews

  • Review technical documentation relating to Higher-Risk Residential Buildings

  • Carry out compliance gap analyses and produce clear, practical recommendations

  • Support preparation of Safety Case Reports and Resident Engagement Strategies

  • Assist with Mandatory Occurrence Reporting frameworks and documentation

  • Support Building Assessment Certificate readiness and submissions

  • Undertake site visits to occupied residential buildings

  • Identify risks and escalate issues where required

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of building safety consultancy services

  • Identify opportunities for wider service delivery within client accounts

About You

We are seeking professionals with strong experience in building safety, fire safety, compliance, housing, or construction consultancy.

You will ideally demonstrate:

  • Experience within building safety, housing compliance, fire safety, or regulatory consultancy

  • Strong ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory information

  • Experience delivering project work and managing multiple priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and risk-based decision-making ability

  • Confidence engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulators

  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and recommendations

  • Strong attention to detail and organised working style

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business systems

Senior / Principal level applicants will also demonstrate:

  • Experience leading complex projects and client relationships

  • Ability to mentor or support junior colleagues

  • Strong technical leadership within regulatory compliance environments

  • Proven consultancy or advisory experience at a senior level
