Summary

ARH Group is looking to recruit an experienced and reliable General Maintenance Operative (GMO) to support a key healthcare client portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to become a valued and trusted part of both the ARH and client team within a rewarding healthcare environment.

This is a mobile role based around the Coventry area, supporting key sites in:

  • Manchester – 2 days per week
  • Northwick Park, North London – 1 day per week
  • Additional London-area sites – 2 days per week for fire door inspection programmes and wider estate support

A company van or car and fuel card will be provided.

The role forms part of ARH Group’s mobile Facilities Support Team and is designed to support operational continuity, compliance and general building upkeep across the portfolio.

Working Hours & Flexibility

This is a 40-hour salaried position. Typical site attendance is generally between 9:00am – 3:00pm (approximately 5 hours on site), however flexibility is essential to meet operational and client requirements.

Overtime may be available where required but must be pre-authorised in advance.

Weekend working is excluded unless additional works have been quoted and agreed.

Annual pay reviews are included as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide planned maintenance support, reactive maintenance and general building fabric assistance across multiple client locations.

Duties Will Include (but Are Not Limited To):Compliance & Building Services Checks

  • Water hygiene and domestic hot water system checks
  • Hot water systems and mechanical plant first-line operational checks
  • Heating system inspections
  • Air conditioning and ventilation checks (F-Gas qualification not required)
  • Fire alarm testing and checks
  • Emergency lighting checks
  • General electrical safety checks (no live working)
  • Workplace equipment inspections
  • Fire door inspections and minor repairs

Recognised fire door inspection training can be provided for the right candidate.

Internal Fabric Maintenance

  • Minor joinery repairs including doors, hinges and handles
  • Ceiling tile replacement
  • Minor wall and floor finish repairs
  • Internal glazing inspections

External Fabric Inspections

  • Visual roof inspections from ground level
  • Gutter and downpipe visual checks
  • External doors and window operation checks
  • Reporting defects including water ingress, damaged cladding or masonry issues

Additional Support Activities

  • Minor fabric repairs and general maintenance works
  • Basic energy efficiency observations
  • Consumables replacement including lamps, filters and signage where agreed
  • Escorting specialist subcontractors on site
  • Minor office and workspace reset works
  • Asset verification and tagging support

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking somebody who is:

  • Experienced within general building maintenance or facilities compliance support
  • Fire door inspection experience (desirable not essential)
  • Joinery or carpentry experience would be a benefit
  • Practical, proactive and self-motivated
  • Comfortable working independently across multiple sites
  • Professional and client-focused
  • Flexible with travel and changing site requirements
  • Able to complete clear reports and communicate effectively

A full UK driving licence is essential.
