Job Title: Fire & Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a leading company in the Fire & Safety sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of various fire detection and security systems, including:

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Intruder alarms
  • CCTV systems
  • Access control systems
  • Emergency lighting

This role is ideal for an experienced professional looking to work with cutting-edge technology while ensuring the highest level of safety and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and commission fire and security systems at commercial and residential properties.
  • Conduct thorough system testing to ensure compliance with client and regulatory standards.
  • Provide client training on system operation and functionality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and reactive servicing on all fire and security systems.
  • Inspect systems proactively to identify and resolve issues before they escalate.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in fire and security systems with minimal disruption to clients.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and ensure quick resolutions.
  • Offer recommendations to enhance system performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Ensure all work adheres to industry regulations, including:
  • BS5839 (Fire Alarms)
  • BS EN 50131 (Intruder Alarms)
  • BS 5266 (Emergency Lighting)
  • Complete detailed reports on work completed, system performance, and compliance.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to clients regarding system operation and maintenance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary safety precautions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and servicing fire and security systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel between client sites.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Electrical experience related to fire and security systems.
  • Certifications such as City & Guilds Level 3, NICEIC, or FIA qualifications.
  • Experience working with integrated security systems.
