Job Title
Part-Time Fire Risk Assessment Validator
Hours
20 hours per week
Flexible working pattern available, subject to business needs.

Hybrid / Remote, with occasional office or site attendance as required.
Role Purpose
The Fire Risk Assessment Validator will be responsible for reviewing and validating completed Fire Risk Assessments to ensure they are accurate, compliant, consistent and suitable for issue to customers. The role is key to maintaining the quality, technical standard and legal robustness of our FRA service. The successful candidate will work closely with Fire Risk Assessors, the FRA Manager and wider operational teams to ensure assessments are completed to the required professional standard and in line with current UK fire safety legislation and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review completed Fire Risk Assessments before they are issued to customers.
- Ensure reports are accurate, technically sound and professionally presented.
- Check that significant findings, actions and priorities are appropriate and clearly evidenced.
- Validate that recommendations are proportionate, practical and aligned to current UK fire safety legislation and relevant guidance.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies or insufficient detail within assessments and return these for amendment where required.
- Provide clear feedback to Fire Risk Assessors to support quality improvement.
- Ensure assessments reflect the correct level of risk and suitable remedial actions.
- Support the development of consistent FRA standards across the team.
- Assist with internal quality assurance processes and technical reviews.
- Keep up to date with relevant legislation, standards and industry best practice.
- Escalate technical concerns, repeated quality issues or high-risk findings to the FRA Manager.
- Support training, coaching and process improvements where required.
Required Qualifications and Competence
The successful candidate must hold appropriate UK-recognised fire risk assessment qualifications and be able to demonstrate professional competence in fire risk assessment. Essential requirements include:
- A recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification, ideally Level 4 or above.
- At least 5 years in completing fire risk assessments.
- Strong working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
- Understanding of current UK fire safety legislation, guidance and industry standards.
- Experience completing or validating Fire Risk Assessments across a range of premises.
- Strong knowledge of fire doors, compartmentation, means of escape, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, extinguishers and fire safety management arrangements.
- Ability to assess whether findings and recommendations are suitable, proportionate and compliant.
- Excellent written English and report-reviewing ability.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to challenge poor-quality or incomplete assessments.
- Good IT skills and confidence using reporting systems, portals or CRM platforms.
- Membership of a recognised professional fire safety body.
- Experience working within a fire protection, compliance, facilities management or risk assessment environment.
- Experience mentoring or supporting Fire Risk Assessors.
- Knowledge of PAS 79 methodology.
- Experience reviewing assessments for commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, education or multi-site customers.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is technically strong, reliable and confident in their ability to review Fire Risk Assessments to a high standard. The successful candidate will be someone who takes ownership of quality, understands the importance of compliance and is comfortable challenging reports where further detail, evidence or amendments are required. This role would suit an experienced fire safety professional looking for flexible part-time hours while still playing an important role in maintaining technical standards and supporting assessor development.

Summary
This is an important quality assurance role within the FRA team. The Fire Risk Assessment Validator will ensure that all reports issued to customers are accurate, compliant and professionally completed, helping to protect both the customer and the business while supporting continuous improvement across the assessment team.
Pay: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
