The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Service Scheduler to join our busy Fire Protection team, based at our Reading premises.

Working closely with our existing administration team, you will coordinate our field-based engineers covering London and the South East, ensuring service visits, planned maintenance and reactive callouts are scheduled efficiently.

This is a key operational role requiring someone who can think on their feet, manage changing priorities and remain calm under pressure. You will be responsible for matching the right engineer to the right job at the right time, helping us deliver an efficient, responsive and professional service to our customers.

Candidates with hands-on experience in fire systems servicing and maintenance will be particularly well suited to this position, as an understanding of the work carried out by field engineers is essential to effective scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and coordinate daily schedules for field-based service engineers.
  • Manage engineer diaries, customer appointments and workload allocation to maximise efficiency.
  • Liaise with engineers and customers to arrange, confirm and reschedule service visits.
  • Prioritise reactive callouts and emergency works alongside planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
  • Respond quickly to schedule changes, unexpected issues and competing operational demands.
  • Allocate jobs appropriately, taking into account engineer availability, location, skills and job requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service records and update scheduling systems in real time.
  • Use UPTICK and Microsoft Outlook to support scheduling, communication and day-to-day administration.
  • Communicate job details, customer requirements and schedule changes clearly to engineers and relevant colleagues.
  • Support the wider administration and operations team with additional duties as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of scheduling processes and service delivery.

Salary, Benefits and Working Hours

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, with the starting salary dependent on relevant experience, qualifications and suitability for the role.

Our package includes:

  • Salary: £32,000–£42,000 per annum, negotiable depending on fire industry qualifications and field experience.
  • Annual leave: 22 days' paid holiday per year, plus public holidays.
  • Christmas leave: An additional three days between Christmas and New Year.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Private healthcare scheme available.
  • Job-related training, including support with relevant systems and processes where required.

Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with appropriate breaks during the day.

About You

You will be a proactive, dependable and well-organised individual who enjoys working in a busy operational environment. You will be comfortable balancing planned work with urgent requests, communicating confidently with customers and engineers, and making sensible decisions when schedules need to change.

Your understanding of fire and security service operations will help you anticipate challenges, allocate resources effectively and ensure that work is scheduled with minimal disruption.

Above all, you will take pride in keeping operations organised, supporting your colleagues and helping deliver a high standard of customer service.
