Full job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Heliport Firefighting/Ground Crew team, helping to carry out day-to-day maintenance of the aerodrome and the heliport building, check in passengers, assist with aircraft handling and luggage, and liaising with our island transport team. Tresco Heliport is predominantly engaged in handling the scheduled passenger service that operates between Penzance and Tresco, Isles of Scilly.

In order to process any application, we require confirmation you are eligible to work in the UK. Unfortunately, if you are not, we are unable to help with the necessary paperwork to assist with this.

Duties Include:

  • Providing first-class customer service, including checking in passengers, handling luggage (up to 20kg) and assisting with embarkation and disembarkation from the aircraft
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with staff and guests, in order to continue the high standards of service across the island
  • Handling of vehicles including fire vehicles and 10-seater electric buses
  • Inspection of vehicles and fire appliances to ensure no defects, and liaising with our Engineering department if needed
  • Adhering to emergency procedures and Health and Safety standards at all times
  • Identifying and mitigating any risks, staying accountable for your actions and being compliant with all current regulations

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Full, clean driving licence (essential)
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and work well as part of a team
  • Must be confident driving large vehicles
  • Must have a high standard of fitness (a medical assessment is required)
  • Fire Service Experience (in line with CAA Category H2 airfield standards) is desirable, although full training can be provided
  • Experience of Aerodrome Health and Safety is desirable, although full training can be provided
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance advantageous
  • First Aid Certificate advantageous
  • Be flexible, with a can-do attitude, as the role will sometimes require working subject to weather changes and delays
