As work continues to expand, ProMatch is recruiting a Mechanical Fitter to join our client's team based in Sutherland.

Our client is a leading Scottish aquaculture business, producing premium-quality salmon through responsible, low-impact farming methods across remote coastal locations. This hands-on role supports the maintenance, repair and safe operation of equipment across seawater, freshwater and vehicle assets, playing a key part in maintaining operational efficiency, environmental compliance and fish welfare standards.

While this position is primarily being recruited at Mechanical Fitter level, candidates with strong practical mechanical experience, particularly involving the maintenance and repair of diesel and petrol engines, may be considered for appointment at Mechanical Engineering Assistant level.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of machinery and equipment, supporting both seawater and land-based operations.

You'll work across boats, lifting equipment, vehicles, moorings and site machinery, helping to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and fully operational. This is a varied role requiring technical ability, problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair machinery, boats, lifting equipment and vehicles to company and regulatory standards
• Support moorings work and liaise with site teams to ensure smooth operations
• Monitor, diagnose and report equipment issues
• Work towards agreed cost, performance and maintenance targets
• Uphold Health & Safety, hygiene and fish welfare standards across all equipment and facilities
• Promote environmental responsibility through effective waste management and equipment upkeep
• Participate in training and continuous development activities
• Support colleagues and assist with onboarding new team members when required
• Participate in out-of-hours duties and weekend cover as required

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates from a range of mechanical backgrounds, including aquaculture, agriculture, marine, manufacturing, plant maintenance and vehicle maintenance.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with machinery, vehicles or mechanical equipment including petrol and diesel engines
• A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
• A practical, proactive and reliable approach to work
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full driving licence and own transport

The following would be advantageous for Mechanical Fitter level appointments:

• Time-served Mechanical Fitter qualification or equivalent experience

Salary & Benefits

• Salary negotiable depending on experience and level of appointment
• Full-time hours, primarily Monday to Friday with weekends on a rota basis
• Enhanced overtime rates of 1.5x weekdays and 1.75x weekends
