About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Fitter to join our team on a major substation project in Lochgilphead. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining and commissioning HV substation equipment, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standard.

You’ll work as part of a skilled site team supporting critical power infrastructure, contributing to the safe operation and reliability of the network. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong HV or substation experience who enjoys hands‑on work, problem‑solving, and delivering quality results on site.

The installation of HV plant and apparatus at all voltage levels from 33Kv to 400Kv,
Including busbars and connectors, transformers ground earthing, hot tinning,
mechanical bending/forming, Assembly and erection of aluminium and steel structures
as well as the installation of cables. Ensuring securely fitted and aligned ready for
connections. Perform routine maintenance on mechanical components.
Resolve problems on site in conjunction with the site supervisor/managers ensuring all
site procedures are being followed.
Maintain strict adherence to safety and relevant industry standards


What you'll be doing

To liaise with the Project Management Team on progress of the job to guarantee
activities are coordinated effectively across the project.
  • Work with the relevant supporting functions to ensure equipment and materials
are delivered to site in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accidents and near-miss incidents are promptly reported giving
accurate details established at the time of the incident, assist in investigations
when required
  • To ensure that documenting of data and reporting requirements are satisfied
within the time frames required by all team members

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are Essential:
  • Competent in the installation work where necessary
  • Competent in site installation procedures
  • CPCS training or similar
  • Ability to work at Heights
  • Able to pro-actively develop and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Able to identify competencies and skills required to undertake tasks and ensure
that
personnel are trained and competent to carry this out
  • Good communication skills to effectively brief team and engage with wider
functions at a
range of levels of seniority.
  • Holds a current UK Driving Licence
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • SSE/SPEN/NG authorisations as required
  • MEWP licence and/or Telehandler/ROTO
  • Experience in Transformers and HV switchgear alignment and installation
The candidate is likely to have the following:
  • Experience of working in high voltage substations environments
