Urmston Carpets is looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded Sales Advisor to join our established showroom team.

We are an independent, family-run flooring retailer with a large and busy showroom in Urmston, serving customers throughout Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire.

This isn't about standing behind a counter waiting for someone to tell you what they want.

We're looking for someone who enjoys talking to customers, understanding what they're trying to achieve and helping them choose the right flooring for their home – while recognising opportunities and confidently closing sales.

What you'll be doing

You'll take responsibility for customers from their initial enquiry through to placing their order, including:

• Welcoming customers into the showroom and establishing exactly what they need
• Advising on carpets, flooring, underlay and associated products
• Helping customers choose suitable colours, styles and specifications
• Producing accurate quotations from measurements and plans
• Following up enquiries and quotations to convert opportunities into sales
• Building complete orders including flooring, underlay, accessories and fitting
• Developing excellent product knowledge across our extensive ranges
• Maintaining contact with customers throughout their buying journey
• Working with our estimators, administration team and fitters to deliver an excellent overall customer experience
• Contributing towards individual and showroom sales targets

Who we're looking for

Previous carpet or flooring experience would be a significant advantage, but we're equally interested in talented salespeople from other retail or home-improvement backgrounds.

You might currently work in flooring, furniture, beds, kitchens, bathrooms, home furnishings, electrical retail, automotive sales or another consultative sales environment.

More important to us is that you are:

• Naturally confident and comfortable speaking with customers
• Genuinely motivated by sales and earning commission
• Friendly and professional without being pushy
• Able to listen to customers and recommend products rather than simply take orders
• Commercially aware and able to recognise additional sales opportunities
• Comfortable working with measurements, quotations and figures
• Reliable, organised and able to follow enquiries through properly
• Someone who takes pride in providing excellent customer service
• A team player who also enjoys achieving individual sales results

Flooring experience?

If you already understand carpets, flooring, measuring, estimating or flooring specifications, we'd particularly like to hear from you.

If you don't, but you're a proven salesperson with the right attitude, we'll provide the product training you need.
