Floor Layer – Construction & Refurbishment

Job title: Floor Layer
Industry: Construction and Refurbishment

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Floor Layer to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing subfloors, measuring and cutting flooring materials, and installing floor coverings to a high standard across a range of construction and refurbishment projects.

The ideal candidate will have practical flooring construction experience, confidence using hand and power tools, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship and site safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare subfloors, including cleaning, levelling and ensuring surfaces are suitable for installation.
  • Measure floor areas accurately and cut materials to the required dimensions.
  • Install floor coverings with precision, ensuring correct alignment, secure edges and a professional finish.
  • Read and follow drawings, schematics and project specifications.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with site managers, colleagues and other trades.
  • Identify and report any surface issues or installation problems.
  • Follow site health and safety procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous flooring experience including: LVT, safety vinyl flooring and carpet
  • Competence in using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to measure accurately and follow technical drawings or instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
