  • Inspect subfloors and carry out or arrange suitable preparation, including renewing the subbase where required.
  • Carry out subfloor repairs and preparation to concrete, latex and timber subfloors to provide a suitable, level surface for flooring installation.
  • Carry out basic plumbing associated with flooring installations, including removing and refitting toilets and wash hand basins (WHBs), and renewing or refitting level-access shower traps.
  • Carry out basic carpentry required to complete flooring and wet room works, including boxing-in pipework and installing shower screens and shower doors.
  • Carry out basic tiling and grouting repairs as required to complete the works to a suitable standard.
  • Measure, cut and fit flooring accurately, minimising waste and ensuring a professional finish.
  • Complete works within agreed timescales and report any additional works or defects identified.
  • Keep tools and equipment clean, safe and in good working order.
  • Maintain clean and tidy work areas and leave properties safe at the end of each working day.
  • Comply with Health and Safety requirements, risk assessments and company procedures at all times.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, colleagues and other trades and represent the Company positively.

Job skills:

  • Strong practical floor-laying skills with good attention to detail and finish.
  • Proven experience of cap and cove safety vinyl flooring installations.
  • Good knowledge of floor preparation and subfloor requirements.
  • Competent in the basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling and grouting tasks associated with wet room and flooring installations.
  • Ability to measure, cut and install floor coverings accurately.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively on your own or as part of a team.
  • Confident using the hand tools and power tools associated with floor laying.
