Showroom & Office Assistant — Woodcraft Flooring

Location: St Albans — working from our showroomContract: Six-month self-employed contractHours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

Woodcraft Flooring is a family business specialising in bespoke wooden flooring, installation and floor restoration. We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised person to support the daily running of our St Albans office and showroom.

You will be an important point of contact for customers, welcoming showroom visitors, handling enquiries and supporting our team with administration, sales follow-ups and marketing.

Your responsibilities

  • Answer telephone calls and emails professionally.
  • Contact new enquiries, gather information about their projects and pass relevant details to management.
  • Welcome showroom visitors, introduce flooring samples and help customers explore suitable options.
  • Arrange showroom appointments, site visits and sample requests.
  • Assist with preparing quotations and customer correspondence under management’s guidance.
  • Follow up on quotations, answer customer questions with support from the team and keep accurate records of conversations.
  • Update our customer management system and help track enquiries and ongoing projects.
  • Assist with social media, marketing and general office administration.
  • Keep the showroom welcoming, tidy and organised, with samples presented neatly.

What we are looking for

  • Clear, confident communication in person, over the telephone and by email.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A professional, approachable manner and a helpful attitude towards customers.
  • Confidence using computers, email and everyday office software.
  • The ability to manage several tasks, follow up consistently and work independently when needed.
  • Reliability, punctuality and a willingness to learn about our products and services.

Previous experience in administration, customer service, retail or sales would be helpful. Flooring industry experience is not essential; guidance on our products, services and processes will be provided.

Contract arrangement

This role is offered on a self-employed basis for six months. Applicants must be able to undertake the role on that basis and attend our St Albans showroom during the stated hours.
