This is a workshop-based role within the steel and mezzanine flooring industry. The successful candidate should have a strong practical understanding of structural steelwork and fabrication processes, knowledge of mezzanine floors would be beneficial

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the workshop has everything required to manufacture and complete projects efficiently, including materials, components, drawings and other production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Monitor workshop requirements and ensure materials and components are available when required.

* Chase outstanding steel, materials, fixings, stair – anything required for that job

* Liaise with suppliers and internal management regarding outstanding materials and deliveries.

* Monitor lead times and identify potential delays before they affect workshop production.

* Ensure materials arrive in line with the workshop’s production schedule.

* Check incoming materials against requirements and report shortages, discrepancies or incorrect items.

* Work closely with the workshop team to understand upcoming requirements and priorities.

* Keep accurate records of outstanding materials and items.

* Follow up suppliers regularly and maintain a clear overview of what has been ordered, what is outstanding and what is required.

* Communicate any potential delays or shortages to the management team

* Help coordinate the movement of materials through the workshop to ensure production runs efficiently.

* Assist with stock control and identify materials that need replenishing.

* Maintain a well-organised system for tracking workshop materials and requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on knowledge of the steel and mezzanine flooring industry.

Ideally, you will have experience working within an :

* Structural steelwork environment

* Mezzanine flooring manufacturer or installer

* Steel fabrication workshop

* Engineering or fabrication environment

You should have a good understanding of:

* Structural steel sections and components

* Mezzanine floor construction

* Steel decking and flooring systems

* Steel fabrication processes

* Workshop production requirements

* Technical drawings and material specifications

* Steel and associated component terminology

Most importantly, you must understand steel and mezzanine flooring. This is not simply an administrative chasing role — we are looking for someone with genuine industry knowledge and workshop experience who understands what the production team needs and when they need it.

Your job is to keep the workshop moving.

You will make sure the right steel, materials, components, drawings and products are available at the right time, chase anything outstanding and flag potential problems to management before they impact production.
