Job Title: Floral Designer

Department: Floral

Reports to: Floral Manager

Liaises with: All Departments


JOB SUMMARY:

In your position of Floral Designer, you will be responsible to produce quality, fresh floral and silk arrangements within a timely manner and ensuring that the cost of arrangements and/or any designs are profitable for the company. Providing key assistance to the Floral Manager in ensuring agreed departmental processes are followed.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following is a list of key responsibilities and accountabilities by which the success of this position is measured. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Your role will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Prepare floral arrangements for Events and Everyday floral, promptly and efficiently, as per client instructions. Ensure floral production is to Celebrations standards while ensuring costing is correct.
  • Work in close liaison with the Floral Manager and assist with overseeing of team as required.
  • Manage or delegate event execution from start to finish.
  • Manage the delivery, set-up and take down of floral and event decor in a timely and safe manner.
  • Assist the Floral Manager in the direction and development of the entire floral design team.
  • Liaise with dispatch and the Floral Manager to ensure the floral department runs smoothly and efficiently in the day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with the ordering of flowers and supplies for the Floral Department.
  • Implement regular inventory checks of floral department products.
  • Recommend new ideas for the Floral Department. Inspire the rest of the team to come up with ideas as well.
  • Ensure floral designers are making use of leftover flowers that are new and innovative.
  • Work closely with the Floral Manager and Event planners for pricing and selling of flowers and for new designs.
  • Ensure the floral area is kept clean and tidy as best as possible.
  • Ensure regular maintenance is done on a daily/ weekly basis (i.e., adding water, cleaning cooler, etc.)
  • Assist with the scheduling of staff.
  • Ensure cost controls are adhered to.
  • Ensure contracts are always ready to go.
  • Attend meetings with Planners and clients.


SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • 7-10 years’ experience as a Florist at a Senior Level. Specializing in wedding and event floral design and setup.
  • Experience in Christmas décor is essential.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to create floral recipes/compile event orders
  • Excellent organization and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to lift upto 20 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be willing to work in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and Public Holidays as required.
