Kitchen Assistant - £13.00 per hour, 19 hours per week

Job Purpose :

To be responsible for the preparation, and cooking of meals. To ensure the Healthy diet of all service users

Main Duties

  • To be responsible to the cook on duty for the preparation and cooking of meals.
  • To comply with the Statuary Regulations contained in the Health & Safety At Work Act, ensuring that appropriate levels of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen and relating areas.
  • To plan and prepare in advance, as far as possible, so that carers can deal with the work without difficulty on occasions of your annual/sick leave/days off etc…
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean at all times, adhering to the cleaning schedule daily.
  • To wash up, serve drinks, remove rubbish and mop the floor.
  • To carry out any other duties reasonably falling within the purview of the post, as required.

Your Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the cleanliness and general tidiness of the kitchen, maintaining standards as required.
  • To have basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, materials and equipment used in the home, also an awareness of the possible risks involved if proper care is taken when operating and using certain items.
  • To maintain all equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • To report any faulty equipment and any defects of hazards
  • To keep adequate supply of cleaning materials for use and ensure they are stored safely.
  • To work to a rota as required.
  • To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Be aware of Health and Safety policy.
  • Undertake training regarding COSHH and attend regular reviews and updates.
  • Attend employment appraisals with designated member of staff.
  • Be aware of Fire Procedure and attend six monthly reviews.

Pay: £13.00 per hour
