The Venue

At the heart of Manchester’s cultural life, The Bridgewater Hall is an internationally celebrated concert venue built for musical brilliance. Opened in 1996 by Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh, it delivers over 300 unforgettable performances each year, spanning classical masterpieces to contemporary world music. The Role

The F&B Supervisor supports the Food & Beverage Management Team in delivering high-quality catering, bar and hospitality services across events, conferences and day-to-day operations. The role is responsible for supervising front-line teams, ensuring operational standards, compliance and customer service excellence, while supporting the efficient delivery of food and beverage operations across the venue.

The Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of food and beverage operations across events, conferences, cafés, bars and restaurants, ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service.

  • Provide operational supervision and duty management cover, acting as the Bars & Catering Duty Manager when required and supporting the wider management team.

  • Lead and support front-line catering teams, acting as a key point of contact for staff and assisting with recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development.

  • Coordinate with internal departments and event stakeholders to ensure catering and hospitality requirements are effectively planned and delivered.

  • Maintain compliance with food safety, allergen, health and safety and company procedures, ensuring standards are consistently applied across all areas.

  • Manage operational controls, including stock ordering and monitoring, cash handling and till reconciliation, while supporting the overall efficiency of the Food & Beverage function.

What we're looking for

Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience within a food and beverage, hospitality, catering or event operations environment.

  • Understanding of bar, catering and hospitality operations within a customer-facing venue.

  • Working knowledge of food hygiene, allergen management and health and safety requirements.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities during busy events.

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Confident handling cash, stock management and operational administration.

Desirable

  • Previous supervisory experience within a venue, hospitality, catering or events environment.

  • Food Hygiene and/or Licensing qualifications.

  • Experience working in large-scale event, conference or entertainment venues.
