Cake Decorator

**Please note: We are only considering candidates with prior retail cake-decorating experience (fresh cream, piping, finishing, and display cakes).**

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cake Decorator to join our creative and customer-focused team. In this role, you’ll bring designs to life through beautifully decorated cakes that delight our customers for every occasion — from birthdays to weddings and everything in between. You will also play a key role in supporting the front of house and interacting with customers to ensure a welcoming and smooth service experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and decorate custom cakes for a variety of occasions, following customer specifications.
  • Prepare and apply fresh cream, fondant, and other decorative elements to a high aesthetic and quality standard.
  • Ensure all cake orders are completed on time and meet both taste and presentation expectations.
  • Decorate cakes, slices, and other items for display; keep display fridges fully stocked and visually appealing.
  • Perform quality checks on cakes before the store opens to ensure readiness.
  • Maintain a clean, organized decorating and preparation area in line with food safety standards.
  • Support the front of house by assisting customers with orders, answering queries, and maintaining overall cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Cake Decorator in a cake shop, bakery, or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of cake decorating techniques, working with fresh cream, and tools (e.g. piping bags, fondant tools, drip cakes).
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service experience and strong communication skills — ability to understand customer needs and translate them into beautifully decorated cakes.
  • 35-40 hours per week, weekend availability is essential, with Saturday and Sunday forming part of your regular rota.
  • Proven experience in creating custom cakes to customer specifications.

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week

  • Harrow HA3 8DN: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

  • Cake decorating: 2 years (preferred)
