Salary: £38,000 per annum

James Mackle Ltd, a leading apple processor based in Moy, Co. Tyrone, is seeking a Food Technologist to join our Technical team. With quality, integrity, and trust at the core of everything we do, we are committed to producing high-quality apple products from sustainably sourced fruit for customers across the UK and beyond.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Product Technologist to support the Technical and Customer Account teams in ensuring product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain raw material and finished product specifications, quality attribute documents, and related technical documentation
  • Liaise with customers regarding specifications and technical requirements
  • Support the site Allergen Management Programme, ensuring compliance with legal and customer standards
  • Collect, analyse, and report data on key performance indicators, including customer complaints and quality trends
  • Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and met
  • Manage customer information on specification and data management systems
  • Prepare, collect, and dispatch product samples to customers
  • Conduct product checks and inspections to ensure compliance with agreed specifications
  • Support New Product Development activities, including final product approval and launches
  • Review artwork prior to product launches to ensure accuracy, legality, and compliance
  • Carry out regular production room audits in line with BRC certification

What we’re looking for:

  • A third-level qualification (or equivalent) in a food-related discipline is desirable
  • Previous experience in a technical role within food manufacturing is advantageous
  • Previous experience with BRC an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and detail-focused, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Competent IT skills and experience using technical or specification systems
