This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in creating well-managed sport experiences, and understands the importance of providing young people with safe, structured opportunities to play.

As a Football Activator, you won’t be delivering coaching sessions, instead, you’ll oversee the operational side of the programme, ensuring everything is set up, coordinated, and taken down efficiently so coaches and participants can enjoy a positive football experience.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Risk assessing, setting up pitches, equipment before sessions begin to ensure a safe and organised environment.
  • Overseeing programme flow, including team arrivals, pitch allocations and session timings.
  • Acting as the on-site point of contact for volunteers, parents and young people.
  • Monitoring safety and safeguarding standards, ensuring all activities run smoothly and issues are escalated appropriately.
  • Supporting programme management tasks, such as attendance checks, basic admin, and reporting any operational needs.
  • Coordinating take-down, ensuring equipment is collected, stored, and the venue is left tidy.
  • Accessing training opportunities to support your professional development.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in youth sport, school sport, or event operations (formal coaching experience not required).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with confidence managing busy environments.
  • A proactive, calm, and solution-focused approach, especially when working with families and young people.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A team player who enjoys supporting others to deliver high-quality sport experiences.
  • Reliable Saturday morning attendance with availability for selected week nights in line with programme developments in 2026/27.

What You’ll Gain:

  • The chance to play a key role in a popular participation football programme.
  • Experience in sport event management and programme coordination.
  • Support from the Active Schools team and access to relevant training. Including funding for further CPD opportunities. The satisfaction of helping young people enjoy safe, structured, and fun football opportunities.
