Role Overview:
We are looking for compassionate, motivated, and reliable Community Support Workers to join our dedicated team due to expansion of our services. If you have a passion for supporting young people with learning disabilities and want to help them achieve their potential, this role could be the perfect fit.

We are especially keen to attract new employees with existing skills in complex care and are happy to discuss salary expectations to suitably qualified applicants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide holistic support to students with emotional, social, and behavioral challenges, addressing disruptions when necessary.
• Assist students with personal care, including mobility support (e.g., splints, gaiters), meal assistance, and personal hygiene.
• Offer physical support, including exercises, stretching, and, where trained, suctioning, gastro feeds, chest percussion, and administering emergency medication.
• Collaborate with teachers and contribute to reviews of students' progress and achievements.
• Supervise students throughout their day, including centre-based activities, offsite activities, and work experience placements.
• Accompany students on outings and short trips, adhering to safety guidelines and professional supervision.
• Collaborate with centre coordinators to support students in classrooms on or off site.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:

• Desirable: GCSE (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths.
• Desirable:Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent)
• Desirable: Relevant certifications or training in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or disability care are beneficial.
• Desirable: ABA trained/ complex care trained

Experience:

• Desirable: 1-2 years experience supporting individuals with severe or profound learning disabilities in an educational or community setting.
• Highly Desirable: Experience in providing medical support such as tracheostomy care, seizure management, and medication administration.
• Desirable: Experience with care planning, support planning, or key-working.
• Desirable: Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support (PBS), Makaton, or similar communication methods.

Skills and Abilities:

• A ‘can-do’ attitude and flexibility in responding to challenging situations.
• Strong empathy, patience, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and external professionals.
• Proficient in recording and maintaining documentation according to the college's protocols.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
