We’ll support you to develop your scientific skills and gain further practical experience, and we’ll provide plenty of training and supervision to ensure you progress and grow.
What’s more, you’ll discover that we are an internationally recognised organisation with tailored learning and development programmes, flexible working options and the chance to work in close collaboration with experienced scientific professionals.
We’re eager to hear from individuals at all stages of their career, but we feel these roles are ideally suited to those at the start of their scientific careers, who are looking to build on their practical scientific and laboratory experience.

The Role
As a Scientist, you will support laboratory and field-based research to help identify and control workplace health risks and improve safety across Great Britain.
You will carry out practical scientific work to support our regulatory, forensic and investigative activities. Contributing to projects focused on areas such as workplace air quality and respiratory protective equipment, you will undertake data collection, analysis and reporting under the guidance of senior scientists.
Working across laboratory and real-world environments, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring work is delivered safely, accurately and in line with established procedures while developing your practical and analytical skills.
Additionally, you will:
- Record, manage and present scientific data accurately
- Contribute to research projects and evidence reviews
- Provide technical and laboratory support across the group
- Follow health, safety and quality procedures at all times
- Support literature searches and background research
About You
To be considered as a Scientist, you will need:
- Experience in a scientific laboratory environment, undertaking analytical, measurement or testing activities, involving the application of scientific knowledge to generate, handle, analyse or record scientific data
- Experience of working to health, safety, quality and operational procedures in a scientific laboratory environment
- Evidence of developing new laboratory-based scientific skills
- The ability to independently record, collate and present scientific data accurately
- An understanding of data quality, traceability and reproducibility in a scientific context
- The ability to communicate effectively within a scientific team
- A full, valid driving licence (adjustments will be considered for applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability but can meet the travel requirements of the role by other suitable means)
Other organisations may call this role Graduate Scientist, Laboratory Analyst, Research Scientist, Laboratory Scientist, Environmental Health Scientist, Occupational Health Scientist, Research and Development Scientist, or Regulatory Scientist.
Webrecruit and the Health and Safety Executive are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
