Full job description

Overview

We are an award-winning provider of first aid training courses, and qualifications in the South West of England and Southern Wales. Over the past 15 years we have grown a fantastic reputation for delivering hands on, practical and dynamic courses, particularly in the specialist area of outdoor/wilderness first aid.

We are now looking for a freelance, outdoor first aid trainer to join our growing team at First Aid Bristol. We are happy to consider someone who is already experienced in the delivery of outdoor first aid, or someone with outdoor experience who we will train to deliver our courses.

This role would suit an outdoor instructor e.g. ML, climbing, canoe, sailing etc. or, someone with a lot of outdoor experience in remote locations e.g. remote film or tv work, working as a medic outdoors, forestry or other relevant experience in the outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and guide students in outdoor first aid techniques and practices.
  • Deliver hands-on training and theoretical knowledge through the use of our Powerpoints, and practical activities (both in side and outside)
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Register and sign off students in line with our protocols
  • Drive to various training locations as required.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Previous work experience of outdoor recreational instructing, or other relevant experience in remote locations
  • Level 3 Teaching and Education Teaching qualification (this can be completed during probationary training with us)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • A passion for first aid and the outdoors

Desirable

  • Previous teaching experience (though not necessarily in first aid)
  • A current valid first aid qualification
  • Specific knowledge of certain environments, e.g. mountain, jungle, forest etc.

Please note, this is a flexible, freelance role, with assignments issued on an ad hoc basis to work around your other existing commitments. We have an online diary management system to help you monitor and accept assignments with us. The number of assignments will be variable depending on client demand. If this interests you, please get in touch.
