Full job description

About the role

LMA is a family-owned aerosol and liquid contract manufacturer based in Pocklington, with over 40 years’ experience developing and filling products for brands across the UK and beyond. We’re looking for a Senior Formulation Chemist to lead hands-on product development within our Technical Department.

This is a bench-focused, technical role — formulating, testing and refining aerosol and liquid products from first concept through to full-scale production. Because we develop private-label products for brand owners across many sectors at once, no two projects look quite the same. If you love the science of formulation and want to see your own work go into production, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop new aerosol and liquid formulations, and reformulate and improve existing products, from concept to launch.
  • Carry out hands-on lab work — mixing, sampling, testing and fine-tuning formulations until they perform exactly as they should.
  • Lead R&D, trialling raw materials and propellant systems and expanding our product range.
  • Fault-find on formulations and processes, and support production to keep products stable, consistent and compliant.
  • Formulate to meet REACH, GHS, VOC and BPR requirements, and keep product specifications and records accurate.
  • Run your own development projects from start to finish and act as a technical point of contact on formulation matters.

What you’ll need

  • Several years’ hands-on experience formulating products in a laboratory, ideally in aerosols, paints, coatings, lubricants or cleaners.
  • A strong chemistry background, ideally to degree level or higher.
  • In-depth knowledge of organic chemistry and formulation — solvents, surfactants, propellants, paints and their applications.
  • Practical knowledge of lab work, raw materials, industrial chemicals and analytical testing.
  • Sharp attention to detail and accuracy in both formulation and record-keeping.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable

  • Experience formulating both aerosol and liquid products.
  • Familiarity with REACH, GHS, VOC and BPR regulations.
  • Experience in a contract manufacturing or private-label environment.

What we offer

  • The chance to own hands-on formulation work on products sold under trusted brands worldwide.
  • A varied role in a busy, family-owned manufacturer with genuine investment in its people and site.

Pay: £28,000.00-£46,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
