Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team in supported living accommodation. This role involves providing personalised care and assistance to individuals with a range of needs and requiring specialised support. The position involves shift work, offering flexibility to suit staff absence/holidays . Successful candidates will play a vital role in promoting independence, safety, and well-being within a caring environment.

The position of Support Worker is to provide assistance with daily living tasks, promoting independence in line with the Service Users’ goal-setting and support plans, taking into account each individual’s specific needs and level of support required to achieve their goals.

As a Support Worker, you will be required to provide person-centred support to residents, promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.

You will be responsible for monitoring service users’ welfare and conducting room checks with supervision as required, ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere is maintained throughout the accommodation.

This is an active, hands-on role. It is not a sit-down post. Staff are expected to take pride in the environment and lead by example in maintaining high standards across the property.

This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents while working within a supportive team environment. We welcome applications from individuals committed to providing compassionate care and enhancing the quality of life for those we serve.

Responsibilities

  • Service User Support
  • Provide person-centered support to each resident in line with their individual support plans and risk assessments.
  • Encourage independence and involvement in daily routines such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and budgeting.
  • Support service users to access community resources, appointments, and meaningful activities.
  • Build trusting and respectful relationships with residents to promote emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and record residents’ progress, mood, and any concerns daily, reporting promptly to the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with move-ins, inductions, and ensuring new residents feel welcomed and supported.

Housekeeping & Property Standards

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout all communal areas of the property.
  • Housekeeping duties of communal areas including vacuuming, cleaning/wiping surfaces, light removing rubbish (emptying bins).
  • Support and encourage residents to participate in cleaning and maintaining their own spaces as part of developing independence.
  • Lead by example in promoting cleanliness, organisation, and respect for shared spaces.
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are followed and documented where required.

Health, Safety & Safeguarding

  • Ensure the accommodation is safe, secure, and well maintained at all times.
  • Conduct room checks as scheduled, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with standards.
  • Report maintenance issues, hazards, or incidents immediately.
  • Follow safeguarding policies, reporting any concerns or disclosures appropriately.
  • Support health and safety procedures, including fire drills and emergency responses.
  • Promote infection control and hygiene standards throughout the property.

Record Keeping & Communication

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of daily logs, incidents, and support notes.
  • Contribute to support reviews and team handovers with relevant updates.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals.
  • Use digital systems to record data accurately and promptly.

Teamwork & Professional Conduct

  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure consistent, high-quality support.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, and training as required.
  • Uphold professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
  • Promote the organisation’s values of respect, inclusion, and empowerment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • All room checks completed on schedule and logged accurately.
  • Positive feedback from residents and colleagues.
  • Timely and accurate record-keeping.
  • Compliance with safeguarding, health and safety standards.
  • Consistent maintenance of a clean, safe, and well-presented living environment.

Previous Experience

Essential:

  • Enhanced DBS Check (can be provided if not currently held).
  • Experience working in supported living, social care, or housing support environments
  • Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
  • Empathetic, patient, and able to build positive relationships with diverse individuals
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic IT and record-keeping skills
  • Flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and nights

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
  • Knowledge of housing support, tenancy sustainment, or low-level mental health support
  • First Aid, Fire Safety, and Health & Safety training

If you think you have the skills required to join our team in a role that is both rewarding and fulfilling — and you are prepared for a hands-on position that supports both residents and the upkeep of a shared living environment — we would love to hear from you.
