About the Role

We are seeking professional, customer-focused Marina Security Officers to provide security services at one of Southampton's marina developments on a Fixed-Term Contract (Initial 12-Month Term with Potential Extensions up to 3 Years). Working Hours: a Mix of Days, Nights, Weekends and Public Holidays

This is a unique opportunity to work within a waterfront environment, protecting marina users, vessels, pontoons, residential areas, commercial premises, and associated facilities while delivering exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for residents, berth holders, visitors, contractors, and marina staff.

As a Marina Security Officer, you will provide a highly visible security presence throughout the marina, carrying out foot patrols, monitoring CCTV systems, responding to incidents, and enforcing marina regulations.

Duties will include:

  • Conducting planned and random foot patrols of the marina estate, pontoons, quaysides, buildings, and car parks.
  • Maintaining patrol accountability through electronic reporting systems and approved security procedures.
  • Monitoring CCTV, alarm systems, and access control systems.
  • Controlling access to pontoon areas and challenging unauthorised persons.
  • Operating Body Worn Video equipment in accordance with company procedures.
  • Responding to incidents, emergencies, alarms, medical situations, and requests for assistance.
  • Assisting the Night Lock Keeper and supporting marina operations where required.
  • Monitoring compliance with marina regulations, harbour byelaws, parking controls, and speed restrictions.
  • Reporting maintenance defects, safety hazards, and security concerns.
  • Downloading and preserving CCTV footage where required for investigations.
  • Providing a proactive security presence in areas of public congregation and vehicle gatherings.
  • Assisting emergency services and marina management during incidents and investigations.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service to marina residents, berth holders, contractors, and visitors.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to pass screening in accordance with BS7858 standards.
  • Good IT skills and experience using electronic reporting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • A professional, reliable, and customer-focused approach.

Waterfront Safety Requirements

Due to the nature of this role, officers regularly patrol open, un-railed pontoons and work immediately adjacent to deep water.

Applicants must:

  • Be able to swim to a basic standard.
  • Be confident working in close proximity to water.
  • Be capable of self-rescue in the unlikely event of an accidental fall into the water.
  • Be willing and able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including an automatic inflation lifejacket, high-visibility clothing, and safety footwear.

Please note that the swimming requirement relates solely to personal safety and self-rescue and does not form part of any expectation to undertake water rescue activities.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a marina, port, waterfront, or security environment.
  • Experience operating CCTV, alarm monitoring, and access control systems.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of marine safety, harbour byelaws, or marina operations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Statutory holiday entitlement.
  • Overtime opportunities where available.
  • Full uniform and PPE provided.
  • Company-funded training and development.
  • Opportunity to work within a unique marina environment.
  • Supportive management team and 24-hour operational support.
  • Potential contract extensions based on project requirements and performance.
