Research Analyst (Freelance)


Responsibilities:


  • Conducting research and analysis on a broad range of socio-political, security and economic topics.
  • Monitoring open-source media and publicly available information for research and analysis purposes; synthesise relevant key findings for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Supporting the development of high-quality programme material for IN2 field projects, assisting programme staff in the collection and delivery of high-quality reports to key stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the facilitation of relationship with new clients and partners.
  • Helping promote IN2 work by drafting communications materials, ad-hoc reports and supporting any other related requests.
  • Providing ad-hoc support to senior analysts and IN2 business development colleagues as required.

Qualifications:


  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent editing skills.
  • Understanding of core qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
  • Fluency in English and strong English drafting skills. Command of Arabic is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including digital and social media communications skills.
  • Strong attitude for teamwork, including knowledge management and information sharing.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Organisational skills including towards prioritisation and multitasking.
  • Solution-driven, e.g. able to apply policies and guidance with sound judgement while anticipating potential obstacles and pre-planning alternative courses of act.
  • Understanding of key themes related to violent extremism, counter-terrorism and conflict.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, conflict studies, political science, sociology or related fields.
  • Master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies or similar is advantageous.

Work Experience


  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in government, academia, international organisations, NGOs or journalism.
