Full job description

Come and make a real difference by joining our dedicated nursing team on the Medlock Unit, based within the brand‑new Dyson Cancer Centre at the RUH.
We are looking for a kind, compassionate and motivated nurse to join our passionate, highly skilled multi‑professional team. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in developing or enhancing their competency in Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT).

Within the Medlock Unit, you will have the opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge while supporting patients receiving SACT and other supportive treatments in an acute cancer setting. You will receive a tailored induction programme, including visits to adjacent areas within the department, followed by completion of the SACT Competency Passport within six months.

We are committed to supporting your ongoing development. Once established in post, you will be encouraged to shape your career direction, with a range of Cancer Care qualifications available to support both your professional progression and the evolving needs of the service.

As our service expands into the community, the role will also include working at Frome Community Hospital when required. Staff will travel from the RUH to the satellite unit at Frome Medical Practice using a Trust fleet car, with travel time paid to support fairness and work‑life balance.

As a team, we strive to be compassionate, supportive, personal and open, with patient and family experience at the heart of everything we do. Alongside strong clinical and technical skills, we are looking for someone who understands the unique needs of people undergoing cancer treatment and who can provide sensitive, holistic support to both patients and their families throughout their journey. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring that every patient receives high‑quality, person‑centred care that positively shapes their cancer experience.

We warmly encourage informal visits.

To be considered for this position, you must hold a valid UK NMC registration.

At the RUH we put people at the heart of what we do, working together as one team to make a difference for our patients, each other, and our community. No matter what your role is, we value everyone’s contribution in supporting the exceptional, person-centred care we pride ourselves on.

We are proud to be in the top 20 best hospitals to work for in the country.

We are committed to creating a compassionate and inclusive environment. This can be seen in our growing community of staff networks – celebrating successes and creating opportunities to listen and learn. We value our differences, champion kindness and civility, and truly believe that diversity makes us stronger.

A culture of learning, developing and innovating is the thread that runs throughout our whole organisation. We want to support you to thrive, taking your career to its full potential.

We value staff wellbeing, with a well-established programme of support. We believe in a holistic approach spanning all aspects of living a healthy life, including physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellbeing. We’ve even got a pool!

We are committed to supporting you and hope you want to join our team. In the meantime, find out more about living and working the beautiful historic city of Bath , learn about our extensive package of staff benefits , and read about how we’re providing healthcare fit for the future with the landmark Dyson Cancer Centre and our passion for research .
