Full job description

The Hunters at Walton Park, Preston is growing and we’re in need of some talented individuals to join our management team as Assistant Managers on a FULL TIME basis.

Your role will be supporting the management team in leading a warm welcoming pub & a team that focuses on GREAT HOSPITALITY. Working with passionate and energetic people, you will have a genuine interest in the local community.

There will be a variety of tasks from front of house & bar work, cellar management, stock & cash control, assisting with staff training to name some of them. You will also help plan & run promotional events.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Building and maintaining good relationships with our customers
  • Focus on staff training to ensure we deliver the highest standards of food and drink service in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
  • You will be responsible for bar stock purchases and sales with excellent bar and cellar service Assisting with Rotas, hiring new staff members and delivering appraisals.
  • Keep the cleanliness and health and safety levels at a very high level.
  • An understanding of the importance of stock control and wage budgets while ensuring the customer experience is never compromised

ABOUT YOU

  • You love being in a pub and working behind the bar and you are looking for a nice location to work.
  • You have excellent product knowledge of pub food, wines, spirits and other beverages
  • You should have 1-2 years experience working in a busy pub and be able to work full-time on a shift basis, days and weekends.
  • You know your cellar management like pipe cleaning skills and stock management
  • You will have previous experience in Pub, Restaurant or Hotel Bar management with responsibility for stock and staff.
  • You can think fast and act quickly without losing the smile.
  • Ideally you have a personal license but not essential for the right candidate
  • Be Physically able to lift or move some heavy objects and work in an environment that can sometimes be demanding and stressful.
  • Happy to work long hours including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Have a sound knowledge of marketing and social media
  • Have amazing interpersonal skills
  • Enjoy work, enjoy a challenge, enjoy being with people and have a real passion for the pub industry
  • Have a great work ethic
  • Have food service experience, and any kitchen experience would be a real bonus
  • Have full bar and cask ale experience - caring for a range of ales and cellar management
