The team at Akessa Healthcare is expanding and needs additional colleagues to assist with the development of our clinical services. This is a great opportunity for medical secretaries to join the team on a full time or part time permanent basis.

The appointment is based at The New Foscote Hospital in Banbury.

About us:

The Foscote Hospital was established in Banbury almost 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region. We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams.

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Secretary to join our expanding team.

The role is to sit within our patient pathway team to provide assistance with patient bookings and referrals. In this role, you will be assisting with management the patients journey as well as secretarial and administrative support to our Consultants. It is therefore essential that you have proven recent medical secretarial experience, preferably within a private hospital/clinic setting, in order to keep up with this busy yet rewarding role.

Duties include:

  • Being first point of contact for calls from patients, hospital staff and GPs.
  • Liaise with patients on all matters relating to the arrangement and organisation of appointments, referrals, correspondence, follow up, and any matters as delegated by the consultant.
  • Ensuring professionalism and excellent customer service at all times.
  • Prepare and manage clinic and theatre appointments/lists.
  • Deal with referral letters and onward referrals.
  • Document management; dealing with all correspondence, typing, faxing, filing, scanning, archiving.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate audio transcription of all patient related and general correspondence

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Outlook.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Medical Terminology course (AMSP).
  • Previous experience as a medical secretary.
  • Experience of working within a private clinic or hospital.
  • GDPR knowledge.

Training and support will be provided as required.
