Full job description

Be the dependable adult a young person remembers. TIFA Life runs supported accommodation for young people aged 16+ in Bangor, and we're building a strong bank of support workers to staff it.

If you've worked with children or young people and you want work that actually matters, this is for you.

The deal

£15.07 to £15.69 an hour, inclusive of holiday pay, with sleep-in payments on top. Built on the Welsh Living Wage, with progression rates as you take on more responsibility. We pay for your enhanced DBS. You get paid induction and paid shadow shifts before you're ever on a shift alone.

What you'll do

  • Support young people aged 16+ to live well day to day: routines, cooking, budgeting, appointments, college and the steps towards independence.
  • Build a steady, trusting relationship so each young person has a consistent adult in their corner.
  • Keep them safe. Spot risk early, follow the safeguarding steps, and speak up.
  • Write clear, honest case notes after every shift.
  • Cover day, sleep-in or waking-night shifts across our homes in South Wales.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience working with children or young people: residential care, youth work, fostering, education, support work, youth justice, SEN or similar.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced DBS. If you're already on the DBS Update Service, even better, you could start within days.
  • Reliability, and a genuine interest in young people aged 16+.
  • Clear written English for case notes.

What puts you top of the pile

  • An enhanced DBS already registered on the Update Service.
  • Trauma-informed training or experience.
  • Registration with Social Care Wales (SCW), or willingness to register.
  • Experience with unaccompanied young people seeking asylum, or with complex needs.

What you get

  • From £15.07 an hour, inclusive of holiday pay, plus separate sleep-in payments.
  • Paid induction, paid shadow shifts, ongoing safeguarding training and supervision.
  • A named senior on every shift. You won't be left to figure things out alone.
  • Real progression into team leader and registered manager roles as we grow across Wales.
  • Flexible shifts: full-time, part-time and bank. Tell us what you can offer and we'll work with it.
  • Refer a friend and get £200 when they pass probation.
