Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie to join our small but dynamic kitchen team at Salma, a modern Mexican kitchen based in a busy upmarket food hall in Leeds city centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining excellent kitchen culinary and hygiene standards, supporting the overall smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting in menu development and maintaining a professional and presentable demeanor in a small, customer facing open kitchen.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in food preparation and and working in fast paced kitchen to hone their skills within a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook dishes according to specified recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Assist in the organisation and management of designated sections within the kitchen, including mise en place and stock control.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all areas of the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
  • Monitor food presentation and ensure dishes are served at the correct temperature and appearance.
  • Support junior staff with training and guidance as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist in menu planning and development alongside senior chefs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a Kitchen Porter within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
  • Minimum Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
