Full job description

We are looking to expand our team with the addition of a full-time trainee Funeral Director/Embalmer. If you have a mature work ethic, are excellent with people and understand the importance of dignity, care and compassion, we would like to hear from you. This is a position of development and progression and requires the commitment of studying towards 3 diploma qualifications - Diploma in Embalming, Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration and Diploma in Funeral Directing. A full development plan will be discussed at interview.

Duties:

  • Care and preparation of the deceased.
  • Meeting with families to discuss funeral arrangements and liaising with relevant officiants and local authorities.
  • Assist with the conveyance of the deceased to our funeral homes.
  • Furnishing and preparation of coffins.
  • Maintaining our fleet of vehicles to a high standard.
  • Chauffeuring and bearing at funeral services.
  • Participation in the on-call evening and weekend rota (overtime paid).
  • Heavy lifting is required.

Qualities and experience:

  • A mature attitude with a calm, dignified manner.
  • Be personable and happy to talk to people from all walks of life.
  • Have high standards, meticulous attention to detail and be able to work under your own initiative.
  • A full UK driving license is essential.
  • Have a smart and tidy appearance.

Package:

A starting salary of £31,200.00, which increases on completion of each diploma qualification. Once fully qualified, rising to £36,200.00.

Hours of work Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm. Additional overtime payments for on-call duties outwith normal office hours.

Membership of the company pension scheme, and a smart work uniform.
