Trainee Accountant (AAT Apprenticeship)

Location: Criccieth, North Wales (Hybrid working available as experience develops)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Salary: £22,000–£26,500 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications and where you are in your studies, with regular salary reviews and increases as you progress through your professional qualifications. All salaries will meet or exceed the National Minimum Wage applicable to your age.

Start your accountancy career with a firm that's doing things differently.

At The Hospitality Accountants, we're building more than an accountancy practice – we're building a team of ambitious people who want to make a genuine difference.

We specialise in helping independent hospitality businesses across the UK achieve financial clarity through expert advice, cloud accounting technology and AI. We've also been twice recognised as finalists at the prestigious Xero UK & Ireland Small Firm of the Year Awards, reflecting our commitment to innovation and exceptional client service.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Accountant to join our team.

Whether you're leaving school or college, looking for a career change, or you've already started studying AAT (for example, Level 2 or Level 3), we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

You'll receive hands-on training while supporting our experienced team with a variety of client work, including:

  • Bookkeeping using cloud accounting software
  • Preparing VAT Returns
  • Payroll processing
  • Assisting with management accounts
  • Assisting with year-end accounts
  • Supporting corporation tax and personal tax work
  • Communicating with clients
  • Using modern accounting software, automation and AI tools
  • Developing your knowledge through practical experience and professional study

No two days are the same, giving you the opportunity to build a broad range of accountancy skills.

Professional Development

We'll invest in your future.

Whether you're just beginning your studies or already working towards your AAT qualification, we'll support your ongoing development with the opportunity to progress onto ACCA or CIMA and build a long-term career in accountancy.

As your qualifications and responsibilities increase, so will your opportunities and salary.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has an excellent eye for detail
  • Enjoys working with numbers and has good mathematical ability
  • Likes solving problems and finding solutions
  • Is curious and enjoys learning
  • Isn't afraid to ask questions
  • Takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work
  • Is organised and reliable
  • Has good communication skills
  • Enjoys technology and learning new systems
  • Wants to build a long-term career in accountancy

Previous accountancy experience isn't essential. Your attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are far more important.

What We Offer

  • Competitive starting salary (£22,000–£26,500)
  • Regular salary reviews linked to professional development
  • Fully funded AAT qualification
  • Opportunity to progress onto ACCA or CIMA
  • Paid study support
  • Hybrid working opportunities as your experience develops
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Company pension
  • Ongoing mentoring from experienced accountants
  • Modern office using the latest cloud accounting technology and AI tools
  • Friendly and supportive team
  • Clear career progression within a growing business

Why Join The Hospitality Accountants?

We believe accountancy is about helping businesses thrive, not simply preparing accounts and tax returns.

If you're ambitious, enjoy learning, have an eye for detail and want to build a rewarding career with a growing specialist accountancy practice, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: £22,000.00-£26,500.00 per year
