Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Occasional Saturday: Usually one Saturday when required
Travel: Occasional travel to our other premises may be required, so flexibility is essential.

We are now looking for an experienced Independent Practice Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the smooth and successful day-to-day running of the practice.

The Role

As Practice Manager, you will play a key role in leading our team, overseeing daily operations and helping to drive both excellent patient care and commercial performance.

This is a hands-on management position suited to someone who understands the optical industry and is confident managing people, operations and the customer journey within an independent practice environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-Day Operations: Oversee the smooth running of the practice, manage staff rotas and ensure efficient daily workflow.
• Team Leadership: Lead, motivate and support the team, maintaining high standards of service and professionalism.
• Patient Experience: Ensure every patient receives a welcoming, professional and personalised experience.
• Optical Retail: Support the dispensing and retail team, assist with patient queries and contribute to delivering an excellent eyewear experience.
• Business Performance: Monitor sales and performance targets, identify opportunities for growth and help achieve practice objectives.
• Stock Management: Oversee stock levels and work effectively with frame and lens suppliers.
• Clinical Support: Work closely with our optometrist and wider clinical team to ensure a smooth patient journey.
• Compliance: Maintain high standards of practice presentation, health and safety, administration and relevant optical/NHS procedures.
• Team Development: Support staff training, development and performance to build a positive and high-performing team.
• Multi-Site Support: Occasionally travel to our other premises when required, therefore flexibility is important.

What We Are Looking For

Previous experience working in and managing an optical practice is mandatory.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Proven Practice Manager or senior supervisory/management experience within an optical practice.
• Strong knowledge of optical practice operations and the patient/customer journey.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• The confidence to manage, motivate and support a small team.
• Strong commercial awareness while maintaining a genuine patient-first approach.
• A professional, friendly and approachable manner.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative and make sound day-to-day decisions.
• Flexibility to occasionally work a Saturday and travel between our premises when required.

Qualified Dispensing Opticians (FBDO) are welcome to apply, although a formal dispensing qualification is not essential where the candidate has strong and relevant optical practice management and retail experience.
