GP Practice Manager

Salary: £60,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Our client is seeking an experienced and driven GP Practice Manager to join an exciting practice in Harrogate. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in establishing and developing a new GP practice from the ground up, ensuring the organisation is fully compliant, operationally effective, and positioned for long-term success.

The Role

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for leading the operational setup of the practice, developing governance frameworks, implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring full regulatory compliance. You will work closely with the business owners and key stakeholders to establish robust systems, recruit and manage staff, and prepare the practice for successful registration and inspection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the CQC registration process for the new GP practice.
  • Liaise with the CQC and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and governance systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, legislation, and best practice standards.
  • Establish quality assurance, risk management, and patient safety processes.
  • Manage the day-to-day operational functions of the practice.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and management of administrative and operational staff.
  • Oversee HR administration, workforce planning, and performance management.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial oversight, and resource planning.
  • Coordinate facilities, supplier relationships, and service contracts.
  • Prepare for CQC inspections, audits, and ongoing compliance reviews.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and service development initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a Practice Manager, Healthcare Operations Manager, Registered Manager, or similar healthcare leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge of CQC regulations, Fundamental Standards, and inspection frameworks.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting or leading CQC registration and compliance activities.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management, safeguarding, and healthcare quality standards.
  • Experience developing and implementing operational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive within a start-up environment.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience within a GP practice, primary care setting, healthcare clinic, or community healthcare service.
  • Experience as a CQC Registered Manager.
  • Knowledge of NHS primary care contracts and healthcare commissioning.
  • Relevant management qualification or equivalent experience.
