Job Overview

Are you an experienced Medical Receptionist looking for a rewarding role in a friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking GP practice? We are seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and patient-focused Medical Receptionist – Care Navigator to join our dedicated team.

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service, supporting patient access to healthcare services, and helping ensure patients are directed to the most appropriate clinician or service.

Duties

  • Greeting patients or visitors, providing a friendly and professional welcoming reception service
  • Managing telephone and face-to-face and online patient enquiries
  • Care navigating patients to the most appropriate service or clinician
  • Booking, amending and cancelling appointments
  • Processing administrative tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately
  • Supporting the wider practice team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with data protection regulations
  • Assist patients with completing necessary paperwork and forms
  • Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and external organisations as needed
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence
  • Ensure the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary materials

Qualifications

  • Proven office experience, preferably within a healthcare setting or similar environment
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and organisational ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
  • Proficiency in using office software programmes such as Microsoft Office or equivalent systems
  • Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in patient care
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
