The Head of Engineering - Platform is a pivotal role responsible for providing strategic leadership, technical direction, and operational excellence to multiple teams of talented tombola engineers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, design, and development of tombola’s white label platform, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:
Provide expert guidance and leadership in the areas of software design, and development to multiple development teams. Drive the adoption of best practices, modern technologies, and coding standards within the team. Build and maintain a world class platform capable of enabling tombola’s long term strategic plans.

Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional team of engineers, including software developers, testers, and DevOps specialists. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes professional growth. Identify and develop future leaders by providing opportunities for individuals in the team to show off their talents. Build and empower a high performing Platform Engineering leadership team that are focused on building and delivering a world class gaming platform.

Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with Game Studio, Product Management and other departments to ensure seamless integration of features, timely issue resolution, and effective communication. Working with other senior technology leaders from around tombola and the wider Flutter organisation to ensure learnings and experience is shared.

Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with technology leadershipto define the technical vision and roadmap for the Platform Engineering Division. Translate business objectives into actionable plans and ensure alignment with overall company goals and long-term plan.

Development and Delivery:
Drive the end-to-end development process, from ideation and design to implementation and deployment. Ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet high quality standards.

Technical Excellence:
Champion continuous improvement initiatives, encouraging the team to enhance engineering practices, code quality, and automation processes.

Risk Management:
Identify technical risks and devise mitigation strategies. Monitor the health of the platform and proactively address any technical challenges or performance bottlenecks.

Budget Management:
Manage and own the budget for the department including salaries, hosting costs, travel and L&D. Working with the Director of Technology – Player Proposition to plan ahead.

Knowledge & Experience

• Prior experience in leading a multi-disciplined delivery team/function.
• Experience with all aspects of delivering a web based white label gaming product to thousands of customers in multiple territories.
• Experience within customer facing and B2B technology businesses.
• Deep understanding of the iGaming sector and relevant commercial experience that incorporates platform engineering and development operations.
• Experience with a broad range of front-end and back-end technologies would be a huge advantage. Some of the technologies we use are C#, Node, Docker, SQL Server, AWS
