Full job description

About Examberry

We are a community-focused tuition provider that does things differently. Our mission is to provide high-quality education in a supportive, engaging environment that helps students build confidence and achieve their potential. Alongside our 11+ tuition, we offer a range of courses and widening-access initiatives, including a bursary scheme designed to support families who may not otherwise be able to access tuition.

We believe that bright, hardworking students should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of background.

We deliver small, friendly group sessions where learning is structured, engaging, and enjoyable. Our focus is on building confidence, motivation, and academic ability without recreating a school classroom.

We’re proud to offer a supportive, inclusive, and positive working environment where tutors feel valued and supported.

The Role

We’re looking for enthusiastic and engaging tutors to teach small groups of Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 students preparing for Grammar and Independent School 11+ exams.

You’ll teach across the full 11+ curriculum:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

Class sizes are small (maximum 10 students), allowing you to focus on engagement, interaction, and confidence-building.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong academic ability and confidence teaching the 11+ curriculum
  • Degree-level qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Ability to engage and manage small groups of children (experience preferred)
  • Positive, energetic, and encouraging teaching style
  • Reliability, professionalism, and good communication skills with parents
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience tutoring or teaching children aged 8–11 (including your own)
  • Experience with 11+ preparation
  • Teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, BEd)

You don’t need to be a qualified teacher — we value attitude, engagement, and delivery just as much as experience.

Why Join Examberry?

  • Small class sizes (max 10 students)
  • Friendly, supportive team culture
  • Clear structure, training, and ongoing support
  • A programme that’s different from school and genuinely enjoyable
  • Opportunity to grow with a well-established tuition provider

Location & Interviews

  • Teaching takes place in person at our Kingston, New Malden or Wimbledon centres
  • Interviews held in Ealing (near Ealing Broadway Station)

How to Apply

If you enjoy teaching, love working with children, and want to be part of a tuition programme that’s engaging, supportive, and rewarding, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £30.00 per hour

Application question(s):

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS check as part of Examberry’s safeguarding standards. Are you willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check prior to delivering sessions?
  • Describe how you would teach a student how to calculate 8% of 150.

Location:

  • South West London, Greater London (required)

Work Location: In person
