Full job description

We are looking for a proactive Sales Assistant to join our Outdoor Shop team.
This role suits someone physically fit, with great people skills, a hands-on approach, and the energy to thrive in a busy, outdoor-focused environment while delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the outdoor shop area, including compost, aggregates, and fencing displays
  • Ensure adequate stock of packing materials, trolleys, and baskets
  • Price up and display new stock accurately and attractively
  • Assist customers with purchases, including packing and carrying items to vehicles
  • Keep the department clean, tidy, and safe at all times
  • Restock products promptly and ensure displays remain well-presented
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Operate safely when handling heavy goods and equipment

Key Skills

  • Must be physically fit and capable of frequent heavy lifting
  • Strong communication skills with a friendly, approachable manner
  • Positive, energetic attitude towards work and customers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work on Bank Holidays when required
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to excellent service
  • Forklift licence or previous forklift operating experience is desirable but not essential
  • Basic organisational and time management skills

Own transport arrangements are essential as public transport is not reliable to Coolings.
