Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Garden Centre Cafe Cook/Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a vibrant environment where you can develop your culinary skills and contribute to providing a welcoming experience for our visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, and serving in a busy café setting, ensuring high standards of food safety and customer service are maintained at all times.

Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to established recipes and standards
  • Assist with meal preparation, ensuring timely delivery of orders during busy periods
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
  • Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the counter or table
  • Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth café operations
  • Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper food handling and hygiene practices
  • Support the team in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and customers
  • Assist with general café duties such as clearing tables, washing dishes, and cleaning work surfaces

Skills

  • Experience in food preparation and cooking within a café, restaurant or hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
  • Good organisational skills with an eye for detail in meal presentation and cleanliness
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers
  • Previous experience in serving or customer service roles is advantageous
