Full job description

We’re looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop and plant centre at Stourhead.

This role combines a passion horticulture and plant health as well as retail, keeping plant displays & our shop look appealing . Helping customers with your knowledge and recomindations will be key in this role.

Salary: £12.75 per hour

Contract/duration: Fixed term contract until 24-Dec-2026

Hours/working patter: Seasonal, flexible, weekends. This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts.

Although not guaranteed typical shifts are 2 days a week.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What you'll be doing:As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop and plant centre while providing excellent service to all customers.

You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.
