Full job description

Bloomsford is Hiring: Full-Time Assistant Gardener

Experience is a must.

Bloomsford is looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hard-working Assistant Gardener to join our growing team.

We maintain beautiful private gardens and estates across the Meon Valley and surrounding areas, with a focus on high standards, attention to detail, and professional garden care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical gardening experience, a genuine interest in horticulture, and a strong work ethic.

About the Role

As an Assistant Gardener, you will help deliver high-quality garden maintenance across a range of private gardens and estates. You will join a small team to support the daily care of gardens and help ensure the team completes work efficiently, safely, and to the standard our clients expect.

This is a full-time, permanent role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with high-quality garden maintenance, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, weeding, planting, mulching, and general estate care
  • Helping maintain gardens to a high standard throughout the seasons
  • Safely using garden tools and machinery, with training provided where needed
  • Supporting the team with daily tasks across different sites
  • Maintaining excellent standards of presentation and attention to detail
  • Communicating politely and professionally with clients when required
  • Working well as part of a small, supportive team

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable, and takes pride in their work.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Some experience in gardening, estate maintenance, landscaping, or a similar outdoor role
  • A genuine interest in plants, gardens, and horticulture
  • A good eye for detail and high standards of workmanship
  • Confidence using garden tools and basic machinery, or a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of lawn care and maintenance would be advantageous
  • A horticultural qualification is preferred.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Reliability, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude

What Makes This Role Different

This is not just a general gardening job. You’ll be working in large, established private gardens and estates across the Meon Valley, where attention to detail, care, and pride in the finish really matter.

No two days are the same, with varied seasonal work throughout the year. This role would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, wants to improve their horticultural knowledge, and is looking to grow with a professional gardening business.

Why Join Bloomsford?

At Bloomsford, we work in some of the most beautiful gardens and landscapes in the Meon Valley. Every day brings the opportunity to work outdoors, develop your skills, and help create gardens that clients can be proud of.

You’ll be joining a supportive, professional team that values quality, teamwork, and genuine care for gardens.

Work Location

Most of our work is in the Meon Valley, including Warnford, Droxford, and West Meon. We also work in Warsash, Netley, and surrounding areas.

You will need to be able to drive and have your own vehicle, as you may be required to meet one of the team in the morning or travel to different sites.
