About us

Wessex Grounds Services is a friendly, medium sized business. Due to company expansion, we are looking for experienced grounds maintenance workers in the Wimborne, Weymouth or Yeovil areas. We are professional, agile, and our goal is to provide a friendly, loyal, skilled, local grounds maintenance service.

We are looking for keen, reliable, hard working individuals. The core hours are 7.30 am - 4 pm each day (Mon - Friday) and we are happy to consider part time workers, but this would need to be full days as most work is undertaken in teams.

Ideally we are looking for someone with experience in grounds maintenance however we are still interested to hear from individuals who are keen to work outside in all weathers, are reliable and have a willingness to learn and work hard, essentially good with practical work.

We are looking for someone to start in the New Year.

Duties involve

• Grass cutting
• Strimming/hedge cutting
• Raking and edging
• Weeding
• Gardening
• Sweeping
• Litter Picking
• Leaf collection
• Chemical Application
• Driving and operating a wide range of vehicles
• Safely use, maintain and clean grounds and horticultural equipment including hand tools, strimmers, hedge-cutters, pedestrian and ride on mowers, and any other machinery required to undertake allocated tasks
• Periodically assist with horticultural operations such as planting, pruning and maintenance of trees, shrubs and other gardening tasks as required
• Work in a tidy and safe manner so as not to put oneself or others at risk
• Follow company and school policies
• Portray a professional image of WGS at all times
• Timely completion of company paperwork and documentation
• Attend staff training when required
• Undertake other duties that are required by the business

Physical Effort and Working Environment

• This role involves travelling, using ride-on mower, powered tools, i.e. strimmer on a daily basis, digging, planting, unloading and loading equipment/tools/materials. The work is outdoors all year round, and work will take place in all weather. Personal protective equipment will be provided.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.50-£12.20 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
