Based on the Helford River, we’re a 4 star, independent, family run hotel set in 65 acres with 49 bedrooms, 7 self-catering properties, bar, spa, restaurant, golf course, tennis courts, boating, paddle-boarding and kayaking. About the role

Join Budock Vean Hotel as our Head Gardener, where you will oversee the meticulous upkeep and enhancement of our expansive grounds. Reporting directly to the Directors, you will lead a skilled gardening team in maintaining the gardens, woodlands, foreshore, and other external spaces with a commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring our outdoor areas reflect the hotel's high standards and enhance the guest experience.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Organising and coordinating the gardening team and equipment to maintain exceptional standards across all hotel grounds.
  • Developing and implementing schedules for ongoing maintenance and seasonal improvements.
  • Managing the care and cultivation of plants, including external hanging baskets, internal plants, and hotel flower beds.
  • Proposing and managing budgeted projects aimed at enhancing the aesthetic and environmental sustainability of the grounds.
  • Ensuring the guest experience is not disrupted by scheduling work thoughtfully and providing horticultural advice and assistance.

About you

You possess extensive experience in horticulture and grounds management, with a passion for maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces. You are adept at leading teams, coordinating schedules, and implementing sustainable gardening practices. Your proactive approach and attention to detail ensure the grounds consistently meet or exceed expectations. Excellent communication skills enable you to interact effectively with guests and colleagues, sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for horticulture. You thrive in a dynamic environment, where your dedication to excellence and environmental stewardship shines through in every aspect of your work.
