Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Gardener Team Leader to oversee and coordinate gardening and landscape maintenance activities. The successful candidate will lead a team, ensuring high standards of horticultural care, efficient utilisation of tools and equipment, and the delivery of outstanding outdoor environments. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate gardener with leadership skills to personally contribute to each garden under their care.

You do need to hold a valid uk driving license to be considered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the team, assigning tasks and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Oversee garden and landscape maintenance activities, including but not limited to pruning, planting, mowing, weeding, border cultivation, hedgecutting and fertilising.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems safely and effectively.
  • Plan and execute gardening projects in accordance with client specifications and environmental best practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of work completed, materials used, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues on horticultural techniques and safety procedures.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Coordinate with clients and or manager to understand requirements and deliver bespoke solutions.

Experience

  • Proven experience in gardening, horticulture or landscape maintenance roles.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of plant care, soil management, pest control, and solid gardening practices.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, irrigation systems, and other gardening equipment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a gardening or landscaping team is preferred but not an absolute necessity.
  • Growing experience in maintaining diverse plant varieties and understanding seasonal planting cycles.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This role is ideal for a dedicated horticulturist with leadership qualities who enjoys working outdoors in varied environments while guiding a team towards excellence in landscape care.
  • PA1 and 6 ideal but not an absolute necessity as training will be offered to the right person.
  • You need do need to be reliable and flexible with good time keeping.
